چکیده

Fourier based feature extraction is a common and powerful technique used in texture classification. In case of endoscopic imaging, often significant barrel-type distortions affect the feature extraction. Although images can be rectified using distortion correction techniques, in previous work feature extraction proved to suffer not just from geometric distortions, but also from effects within distortion correction. Distortion correction in combination with Fourier features has not been investigated so far. We introduce and evaluate three strategies to partially or completely compensate the geometric distortion in combination with Fourier features. With two methods, the interpolation within distortion correction can be omitted which should lead to a benefit in classification. Instead of making a general statement, we distinguish between certain frequencies and identify the positive and the negative aspects of the strategies.

Distortion Adaptive Image Classification - An Alternative to Barrel-Type Distortion Correction

The endoscopes, utilized in computer aided celiac disease diagnosis are equipped with wide-angle lenses, which introduce significant barrel-type distortions. Previous work is on rectifying the distortions prior to the feature extraction. However, due to new arising inadequacies this often even decreases the classification accuracy. The idea of this paper is based on the fact, that there is a co...

Feature Extraction with Intrinsic Distortion Correction in Celiac Disease Imagery: No Need for Rasterization

In the fields of computer aided celiac disease diagnosis, wideangle endoscopy lenses are employed which introduce a significant degree of barrel type distortion. In recent studies on celiac disease classification, distortion correction techniques are investigated which use interpolation techniques, in order to maintain the rasterization of the image. Subsequent feature extraction is based on th...

Evaluation of different distortion correction methods and interpolation techniques for an automated classification of celiac disease☆

Due to the optics used in endoscopes, a typical degradation observed in endoscopic images are barrel-type distortions. In this work we investigate the impact of methods used to correct such distortions in images on the classification accuracy in the context of automated celiac disease classification. For this purpose we compare various different distortion correction methods and apply them to e...

Distortion Correction using Enhanced Feature Extraction and Classification

With the advance in technology, different types of machines are used to acquire the images. These sensors acquire information and make it in the form of images. Sometime these images are affected by some distortion like barrel and pincushion. This is because theses sensors have a mark focus on either centre or edge. As it focuses on one point so it cannot be removed but can be corrected after a...

A multicarrier system based on the fractional Fourier transform for time-frequency-selective channels

Traditional multicarrier techniques perform a frequency-domain decomposition of a channel characterized by frequency-selective distortion in a plurality of subchannels that are affected by frequency flat distortion. The distortion in each independent subchannel can then be easily compensated by simple gain and phase adjustments. Typically, digital Fourier transform schemes make the implementati...
